Planned a trip east for Thanksgiving. Almost cancelled when we saw the reports of the storm. Decided at the last minute to leave earlier and drive through the night to get at our destination early Wednesday morning. After falling victim to some very poor management by Budget Rental Car we finally got on the road about 10 pm.
My wife is the hero of the trip. She was the one that suggested we leave early and then (after some help from 2 excedrin) she proceeded to drive from 10pm to 5am. Yet one more example of her amazingness. I took over at 5 and it started to rain shortly thereafter. She hates driving in rain. God watched us every step of the way as we had safe travel with no major weather related issues. Shortly after our arrival, the rain turned to snow and the storm had officially begun. So thankful for my wife, my family, and God's faithfulness. I hope everyone has a great thanksgiving. We are very sleepy now. Thanks to Mr. Anderson for keeping an eye on our house. Had a great time last night after the play. It was great watching the kids perform and have a fun up on the stage. It was even better watching students and parents jump right in and help with tear down. Taking apart the set, putting props away, packing up the sound equipment, stacking chairs and general cleaning - and everyone seemed to be having fun doing it.
A big thank you to Mrs. Cannon for all the time and effort that you put into the play. Also a big thanks to Cannon, Eskew, Wolf, and the GCS parents for having such a great group of kids. In this age of entitlement, it is really nice to see kids that don't just show up and walk away when they are done. Instead, we see a group of parents training their kids that along with fun comes prep time and de-prep time. And showing them that work isn't something to avoid, but something to embrace. The night was topped off at Capitol Coney Island on Bristol Rd. with some coney dogs, fries and Mr. Swanson serving us up some drinks. Food was great, the fellowship was better. Thank you Swanson family for your generosity. I am constantly reminded that GCS is all about the great families that we have here and I feel blessed to be a part of it. These two girls dressed almost exactly alike...and they didn't plan it. I'm not even sure they like each other. Considering I wear a blue shirt and khaki pants every day, I thought it was funny.
