Came across this debate on YouTube today. Ended up watching the whole thing. It's a little bit long, but lots of fun. But it is really only fun if you are a math nerd. I don't know that I would consider myself a mathematician, but it was worth watching. The morning started with the typical stocking hunt. We don't just leave the stockings out, we hide them and then leave clues. Well, actually Santa does it all. Even though Lauren isn't sure there is a Santa (silly child), she asked me to tell him to still hide the stockings. I will put the clues that were given at the end of this post in case you care. My wife always does a great job with the presents for the kids. Getting them the things they ask for and some things that they didn't ask for but will appreciate. I won't bore you with the details of what everyone got. Presents were followed by bacon and french toast. I have always been a firm believer in turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This year we had ham. It was Lauren's choice. It was a good choice. A lot less time to prepare and a lot less time to clean up. I enjoyed the day with my family, but in the future I need to do a better job of keeping the focus on Jesus and the gift of salvation that was provided by His birth, life, death and resurrection. Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the galaxy
Not a creature was stirring, not even a Wookie. The stockings were hung by the piano right here, The tree that’s downstairs will have a clue near. When you use the force, use your powers for good Now go get your stockings where the dogs get their _____. Christmas eve I got up pretty early and got a few things accomplished around the house. They day was pretty normal at first, but the evening plan was going to get a little bit busy. We told Lauren she could decide on Christmas dinner and she chose ham and cheesy potatoes. Therefore, Ben got to choose for Christmas eve. He was non committal so we chose for him. Steak on the grill, mashed potatoes and oven roasted green beans. It was great. I have decided that this needs to become a Christmas tradition. We don't have steak very often so this was a real treat. Christmas eve service was very nice. Ben and Lauren we able to play their strings with Elizabeth. And the message was a nice reminder of what God gave as a gift and what Christ gave up in order to pay our sin debt. We have an amazing Father and an amazing savior. After the service we high tailed it to the movie theater to watch the new Star Wars. It was good. We had a good time as a family. This may also become a new tradition...assuming there is a decent movie to watch in the theater. After the movie we went home, had the kids go to bed (at least to their rooms) and went down to wrap presents. Wrapping present on Christmas eve while watching Elf has become a bit of a tradition too. Then I work on the "Stocking Clues" while I watch "It's a Wonderful Life". I was up til about 3 am but I enjoy it and it is worth it. I also know that I will be taking an afternoon nap the following day. All in all, it was a very good Christmas eve. My wife and I don't really exchange gifts for Christmas. We have a bit of an understanding. No need to go into detail. I tried to do some things for her over break that are not a big deal to most, but she really appreciates. You will think this is stupid, but I don't care what you think. Here it goes.
10. Keep the kitchen clean 9. Clean the bathrooms 8. Clean garage (I like this too) 7. Clean out basement storage 6. Clean her car really good 5. Go on long walks with her 4. Have a balanced family budget 3. Give to charities at end of year 2. Take things to Carriage Town Mission and/or other charities 1. THROW STUFF AWAY She is an amazing woman and I love her very much. Thought I would start the new year by doing a bit more "blogging" and trying to keep up with this website a little bit better. Had a really good (and boring (in a good way)) Christmas break and figured I would write a bit about that. Sometimes the body and mind just need a bit of rest. We didn't leave the state. We threw some things away. We did some organizing and a lot of cleaning. Finished the first six star wars movies and went to the seventh. Did Christmas stuff. Visited with some friends. And took many naps and lots of nice walks with the wife and the dogs. Gonna break this into multiple entries. Christmas break always starts with the GCS Christmas Chapel on the last day of school. This years (like most) was a bit of work and a lot of fun. I love the people that I work with and all their hard work throughout the year. I also love the student that I get to teach and hope they all had a great Christmas. On the homepage right now is a couple of videos and I will also try to insert a link below. I'm new at this so we will see how it goes. Merry belated Christmas.
